Sky Sports Head of Boxing predicting Frampton win
Sky Sports Head of Boxing Adam Smith is plumping for Carl Frampton to emerge victorious against Leo Santa Cruz this weekend.
‘The Jackal’ challenges for the Mexican-American’s belt in New York on Saturday night, and the opinions of the experts are split.
Like most, Smith is expecting a tight fight, but believes that the Belfast man will have his hand raised after twelve rounds.
Speaking to IFL TV before the Josh Warrington v Patrick Hyland press conference, Smith described how “it’s a really interesting fight in Brooklyn this weekend between Leo Santa Cruz and Carl Frampton.”
“Carl Frampton of course goes up in weight, but he goes up in weight with so much talent, and boxing ability, and that unbeaten record.”
While Smith believes that ‘El Terremoto’ presents an immense challenge, he envisions a Frampton win – which would be highly beneficial for British fighters.
“Santa Cruz is full of fire and determination, he’s a non-stop workaholic. I’ve seen him so many times in the flesh and commentated on him.”
“I think that he is a really really dangerous fighter, and a dangerous fight for Frampton.”
“I’ve got a funny feeling that I think Carl might sneak a points win. It’s a really big stage for him and I’m hoping obviously that he does and then we’ve got some great clashes to look forward to with the likes of Selby and Warrington.”
