Sizeable Step Up and Statement Chance – Former Southern Area Champ Next for Pierce O’Leary

Pierce O’Leary [7(3)-0] has been handed the chance to make a positive comparisions to the likes of Sean McComb and Paddy Donovan on October 29.

The exciting Dublin prospect take son former Southern Area champion Siar Ozgul when #MTKFightNight returns to York Hall in London later this month.

The Dublin Docklands graduate was last in action in June, where he produced a Knockout of the Year contender by viciously stopping Jan Marsalek in round two of their bout.

The 21-year-old Dubliner now squares off with Ozgul [15(3)-2], who is looking to replicate the form that saw him win the Southern Area super-lightweight title back in 2017.

The Hackney based Turk hasn’t registered victory since 2019 and is on a four fight losing streak.

However, he still represent a sizable step up for the London trained prospect. Ozgul is always a treat, has challenged for and won titles and has also gone the distance with the likes of Viktor Postol, Anthony Yigit, Sean McComb and Samuel Antwi.

Indeed when Paddy Donovan defeated the 28-year-old earlier this year it was said the victory underlined his status as a world class prospect.

Granted the Andy Lee trained fighter’s performance, a dominating one, and the fact he got the stoppage played a part in that praise.

Still, it is a chance for O’Leary to register a statement of his own, get a career best win and take a sizeable stride forward.

Ozgul also fought the ‘Public Nuisance’ Sean McComb and went the distance with the Belfast favourite.
