Simply his best – Paddy Gallagher admits he has to hit peak performance to defeat champion

Paddy Gallagher [16(10)-5(0)] admits he will have to be at his best to defeat British and Commonwealth champion Chris Jenkins [21(8)-3(0)-2] this coming Saturday night.

‘The Pat Man’ doesn’t go as far as to say the Welsh fighter is the best he has faced, but does believe to get the win against the ever game talent he will have to bring his best to the table.

The popular Belfast welterweight, who has previously spoke of his delight at securing a big fight at home and on a huge night at Féile an Phobail, also expects the stubborn aggressive duo to produce 12 hard rounds.

However, the BUI and BBBofC Celtic title winner believes their areas he can exploit and remains confident regardless.

“I’ve seen weaknesses but I’m not going to give them away. I want to have every advantage I can going into this fight,” Gallagher explained.

“Regardless of that, I’m still expecting 12 hard rounds and I’m really going to have to work for the win and produce my best performance.”

Winning the British and Commonwealth titles will open sizable doors for the 30 year old. Gallagher can use them to progress toward European honours or make defenses and cement his status as a fighter anyone entertainer over the next 12 months.

Yet he remains adamant he isn’t thinking about titles as of yet pointing out defeating Jenkins is his sole goal.

“I’m fully concentrating on Jenkins. The titles being on the line are great, but all I’m focused on is getting the win against Jenkins.”

Gallagher vs. Jenkins is part of a massive card at Falls Park, that is main evented by Michael Conlan facing the toughest test of his career so far when he takes on Diego Alberto Ruiz.

A huge bill also includes Luke Keeler vs. Luis Arias, Alfredo Meli vs. Araik Marutjan, Padraig McCrory vs. Steve Collins Jr for the Celtic super-middleweight title, Sean McComb vs. Renald Garrido, Olympic hero Paddy Barnes, Dennis McCann, Callum Bradley, Seanie Duffy and Dee Sullivan.
