Showtime to stream Frampton-Gutierrez live for U.S. viewers
Stateside fans will be able to watch Carl Frampton’s big Belfast homecoming this Saturday.
The Al Haymon-advised featherweight returns to his home city after two years on the road in which he unified the IBF and WBA super bantamweight titles against Scott Quigg and won and lost the WBA 126lbs belt against Leo Santa Cruz.
His homecoming opponent for the WBC featherweight title eliminator at the SSE Odyssey Arena will be Mexican Andres Gutierrez [35(25)-1(0)-1].
The fight is being shown live on UK terrestrial TV via Channel 5, however American Frampton fans will also be able to see ‘The Jackal’ in action.
Showtime have confirmed that they will stream the Channel 5 feed on their Facebook and YouTube channels from 10:30pm Irish time (5:30pm/2:30pm ET/PT).
The move is a positive one for American fans, and for the profile of the Tiger’s Bay boxer.
Frampton [23(14)-1(0)] won himself a lot of admirers across the Atlantic following his exciting two-fight series with Santa Cruz which took place in New York and Las Vegas, live on Showtime.
The Gutierrez fight will kick off a day of boxing for Showtime viewers, with the Mikey Garcia v Adrien Broner light welterweight title fight taking place later that night at the Barclays Centre in New York.
The streams will be geoblocked and only available to people residing in the United States.
