Showtime Social Media Blunder crowns Carl Frampton champion

On Saturday night Carl Frampton will attempt to become only the second man from the island of Ireland, after Steve Collins, to become a two-weight World champion when he takes on WBA featherweight champ Leo Santa Cruz in New York .

Already the first Irish fighter to unify two major belts, which he did at super bantamweight against Scott Quigg in February, ‘The Jackal’ is looking to make a bit more history this weekend at the Barclays Centre.

However, if the Showtime Snapchat account is to be believed, he is already there. Yesterday evening at the final pre-fight press conference the US cable network added the following photo to their story.

Obviously the person in charge of their social media momentarily jumbled up the Belfast mans resumé and mislabelled the two-belt World champion as a two-weight World champion.

It might be a good omen for tomorrow night nonetheless.
