Sean Turner loses out to Nathan Gorman on Tyson Fury comeback undercard
Sean Turner was blasted out by Nathan Gorman tonight in Manchester in what has been described as a break-out night for the English fighter.
The Dublin heavyweight was dropped and stopped inside three rounds by the Ricky Hatton-trained prospect on the Tyson Fury comeback undercard at the Manchester Arena.
‘Big Sexy’ Turner had called for the fast-handed Gorman to stand and trade rather than box and move – and the Nantwich 21-year-old answered this call with devastating results.
Gorman started much the sharper, landing some nice uppercuts mixed in with hooks to the body and he quickly had the nose of Turner bloodied. The Dubliner tried to unleash left hooks but was missing wildly before finally enjoying some success in the closing seconds of the stanza.
A counter right from Gorman knocked Turner off balance midway through the second and the Irish heavyweight was having serious trouble dealing with the speed disparity. ‘Big Sexy’ then suffered the first knockdown of his career, taking a shot to the temple before a massive uppercut which put him down for eight in the closing seconds of the round.
Gorman came tearing in at the start of the third, throwing numerous shots as Turner covered up and weaved in the corner. The English youngster started firing in uppercuts once again, backing up Turner and, with nothing coming in return, referee John Latham waved off the contest.
The crushing defeat sees Turner fall to 12(8)-3(1) while the impressive Gorman improves to 13(11)-0.
