Sean Turner eyes 10-0 and becoming ‘Not So Big Sexy’
Sean Turner [9(6)-0] is just focused on making it a perfect 10 on Sunday afternoon.
‘Big Sexy’ has been added to the MGM Liverpool ‘Christmas Cracker’ show on Sunday at the Devonshire House Hotel on Merseyside and claims all he knows about the card is that it will host his tenth win.
The Dublin heavyweight was handed the fight on short notice and isn’t too versed on the details of the clash, but is adamant he will get his third win of 2016 and do what he has to in order to set up an exciting 2017.
“I haven’t a clue who I am fighting yet,” he told Irish-Boxing.com.
“I know it’s six rounds in Liverpool, but i don’t known the opponent. I am just happy to be getting my tenth fight and I will get to 10-0 regardless of who it is.”
“I hope to fight in an eight rounder after Christmas, maybe a Celtic Warrior title shot and then maybe an Irish title shot. I really want to fight for the Irish title next Summer.”
Turner has heavyweight title aspirations, but despite putting in a career-best performance when scoring a points win over Ivica Perkovic in Belfast earlier this month, he has hinted that clash has made him consider trying to move down to cruiserweight.
“Well if Sean Creagh can go from 100-odd kilo’s to 64 it’s possible for me to get down!” he added.
“I think it would take time and I would love to win a title at heavyweight, but I’ll look into cruiser over the next year. I think if I went to Spain and worked with a dietitian and a strength and conditioner I could do it.”
“Just in the last fight, the lad was so big it was hard to find him accurately with some shots. I won and performed well, but if he wasn’t so big I would have looked a lot better against him. So maybe cruiser would be better? I’d be fighting guys my height then.”
