Sean McComb secures ANOTHER step-up on Féile bill

Sean McComb [7(4)-0] has been handed another step up following some impressive recent performances.

It has been announced this afternoon that the Turf Lodge light welterweight will face dangerous Frenchman Renald Garrido [24(6)-24(0)-3] on the big Féile an Phobail card in Belfast on Saturday August 3rd.

A fight with managerial stablemate Lewis Benson had been mooted for ‘The Public Nuisance’ but he will instead face an opponent many felt got the better of Benson when they fought last month.

Well-known to Irish fans, Garrido has caused plenty of upsets over the years and has been on the receiving end of even more questionable decisions.

Back in 2017 he was edged by Tyrone McKenna and he had been due to face Gary Cully last month before the Naas lightweight’s withdrawal.

A former French champion, Garrido is yet another step up for European Games bronze medallist McComb who has registered impressive wins over Zoltan Szabo, Troy James, and Miroslav Serban in his last three contests.

The fight on the Mick Conlan v Diego Ruiz undercard will take place over eight rounds.

Joining McComb v Garrido and Conlan v Ruiz on a stacked bill is a clash of unbeaten middleweights in Alfredo Meli and Araik Marutjan, a BUI Celtic super middleweight title clash between Padraig McCrory and Steve Collins Jr., and Luke Keeler’s step up to world level against Luis Arias. Also set to feature are Paddy Barnes, Callum Bradley, Dee Sullivan, and Seanie Duffy.

The Top Rank card at the Falls Park will be shown live on BT Sport and in America on ESPN+
