Scrap star – Boxing Ireland add Limerick Muay Thai name to their roster
Muay Thai name, podcast host and now professional boxer, Jamie Morrissey is now set to bring his particular set of skills onto the Irish pro scene.
The Limerick native is one of a number of recent Boxing Ireland signings and having changed fight code will be looking to make an impression on the domestic circuit.
The popular podcast host won the ISKA Pro Irish Middlewight title as recent as August 2019 and has spent the majority of 2020 working on a boxing transition.
The proven ticket seller with super middleweight ambitions has been working with emerging coach Shaun Kelly.
The marketable addition to the pro ranks has also had ideal transition sparring, having shared the training ring with the likes of rising star Paddy Donovan and technically astute former standout amateurs Edward Donovan and Jason Harty.
Boxing Ireland have previously worked with fighters from other disciplines, most notably bringing former kick boxer Stephen McAfee to Irish title level and have high hopes for their latest addition.
Steven Sharpe, one of the Celtic Clash promoters holy trinity, is certainly excited by the move and believes today’s signing could be step one along an exciting journey.
“Jamie and myself have been in regular contact for well over a year so delighted to finally make things official,” he explained.
“Pro-boxing is no stranger to fighters switching over from other disciplines and I’ve been hear a lot of good things about Jamie from a boxing perspective. Jamie is a really interesting guy and definitely popular around Limerick so it looks like the start of an exciting journey and I’m delighted he has decided to allow Boxing Ireland Promotions guide his career.”
