Scott Quigg: ‘Frampton is an easier fight than Donaire’

Bury’s Scott Quigg is desperate to tackle IBF super bantamweight champion Carl Frampton – and not just because of the money involved. The former British champion claims that ‘The Jackal’ is a softer touch than his other mooted opponent, Nonito Donaire.

Speaking to IFL TV, Quigg’s promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that “he thinks that the Frampton fight is easier than the Donaire fight.”

The thinly-veiled barb is yet another example of how the once-cordial relations between the two super bantamweights has soured significantly in recent months.

Donaire [35(23)-3(1)] is a former four weight world champion and still a top class operator – however the ‘Filipino Flash’ has been described by many as being a shadow of his former self since his defeat to WBA super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux, back in 2013.

Hearn and Cyclone Promotions are due to meet today for renewed negotiations about making Frampton-Quigg.
