Saunders: Lee’s luck has run out I will take his title

ANDY Lee’s luck has run out and his reign as World champion will come to an end in Thomond Park on September 19 claims, Billy Joe Saunders.

The challenger has fired the first verbal blow in what has so far been a very cordial lead into the WBO world title fight.

Indeed, Saunders let fly with a verbal combination as he all but questioned Lee’s hunger and desire and as well as claiming luck has been a key factor in the Limerick man’s recent wins.

The Frank Warren promoted fighter, who has twice passed up the chance to fight for the WBO strap currently in Lee’s possession, said the World champion is coming to the end of his career and is cashing out with a big night in Thomond.

“I have no problem travelling to Ireland,” Saunders said to Sky Sports.

“Andy Lee is strong and game but he’s been on the floor in his last three fights and is coming to the end. He’s at a point where he’s cashing in and I don’t blame him for that but I’m too fresh for him. His luck has got to run out some time and I’m the man to take his title.”
