Saunders: Lee is no GGG I will stand and trade with him
Andy Lee’s right hook is fast becoming a thing of Irish boxing folklore.
The Limerick southpaws weapon of choice secured him a sensational come from behind win against John Jackson and was key as he dethroned WBO middleweight ring king Matt Korobov.
There are those who suggest Billy Joe Saunders best chance of taking the aforementioned strap from around the waist of the Irish puncher in Manchester on Saturday night is to hit and move and keep out of range for the fight ending shot.
However, the Frank Warren middleweight claims he isn’t worried about the power the former Olympian posses and claims he has no issue standing and trading with a fighter who in fairness has continually said he won’t rely on power this weekend.
“He has a dangerous right hook but you actually have to be wary of all his punches. Still, even though he can hit, he’s no Gennady Golovkin and you will see me stand and punch with Andy Lee,” Saunders told Ring TV before suggesting he will beat the Irish favourite in every department.
“Andy brings strength, boxing ability and experience to the table but I’m going in there to outfox, outbox and outfight him.”
