Santa Cruz wants unification bout with Carl Frampton

WBC super bantamweight World champion has once again name dropped Carl Frampton on his 2015 wish list.

The Golden Boy promoted star, who previously stated a willingness to come to Belfast to take on The Jackal, claims he wants to unify the Super Bantamweight division before progressing to featherweight in a bid to become a three weight World champion.

Cruz wants bouts with IBF belt holder Frampton, Gary Hyde managed WBO and WBA champ Guillermo Rigondeaux and even WBA regular champ Scott Quigg before targeting the likes of Abner Marez.

However, despite revealing his unification desires Cruz claims he has a Marez clash lined up for the Summer, although Marez, who has also named Frampton as a possible foe, might drop down to accommodate the American based pugilist.

“For me I’d like to unify my title with one of the other champions- either Guillermo Rigondeaux, Carl Frampton or Scott Quigg before climbing to 126LBS by the end of the year, he told ESPN. There some very hard good opponents at 126 like Johnny Gonzalez, Vasyl Lomachenko and also Abner Marez, who I am supposed to fight in May. I want to face them, because I want to become three weight World champion.”
