Roy Sheehan in action in Baku today

Roy Sheehan will continue Ireland’s campaign at the World Championships and Olympic qualifiers with a last-64 bout in Baku, Azerbaijan this afternoon.
The St Michael’s Athy welterweight, a three-time Irish Elite champion and 2007 EU Championships gold medalist, will be in the ring between 12 noon and 1pm (Irish time) versus Carl Hield of the Bahamas.
If the Kildare man advances from today’s clash he’ll will face either Borna Katalinic of Croatia or Cheng Chin Su of Chinese Taipei in the last-32 on Sunday.
Meanwhile, European champion Joe Ward will face Dilovarshakh Abdurakhmanov of Tajikistan in his opening bout on Sunday.
Abdurakhmanov stopped Dmitrov Stoimen of Bulgaria in round one yesterday.
