Rory McIlroy wins Frampton-Quigg bet with Wayne Rooney
Carl Frampton wasn’t the only Irish sports star to win big last night.
‘The Jackal’ defeated Scott Quigg to unify the WBA and IBF super bantamweight titles, and won his fellow Ulsterman a free dinner and night out.
Four-time Major winner McIlroy partook in a wager with Champions League winner Rooney over the outcome of the bout. Frampton fan McIlroy went with the Belfast boxer, whilst the Manchester United star went for Bury’s Quigg.
All the best @scottquigg tonight. Hope you do it mate

Frampton was victorious on the scorecards in front of a vocal travelling support, winning a split decision over his English rival.
It’s fair to say that the Irish Olympic gold medal hope was delighted with the result:
YESSSS!!!! Well done @RealCFrampton! Fought a smart fight. Get your wallet out @WayneRooney!!

The on-tour golfer couldn’t make the event at the Manchester Arena, however Rooney was in attendance and met with Frampton after the fight.
