Risky Business for Watkins: step-up against Cruise confirmed

It might not be Mission Impossible, but Luke ‘The Duke’ Watkins [6(4)-0] takes a step-up in class next month.

It has been announced that the Swindon-born cruiserweight takes on Tony Cruise [6(4)-2(1)] at the York Hall in London on Saturday May 7th.

The Paddy Fitzpatrick-trained fighter features on the undercard of the Goodwin-promoted ‘No Excuses’ show at the famous Bethnal Green venue.

26 year old Watkins, of Wexford stock, has Irish title ambitions, and his upcoming bout against Barnsley’s Cruise continues his well-matched apprenticeship in the pro game.

Top of the bill next month is the English welterweight title fight between Johnny Garton and Ryan Fields.
