Ray Moylette scores Boston knockout against world title challenger veteran

Ray Moylette scored a dominant stoppage win tonight in Boston.

The Mayo lightweight was in action on a Golden Boy on ESPN bill at the House of Blues snd scored a second round knockout.

Moylette defeated faded former world title challenger Michael Clark, dropping the veteran thrice in the second round of his third scheduled six-rounder.

‘Sugar Ray’ had been in tough fights recently with Innocent Anyanwu and, especially, Donte Bryant.

Fighting just two weeks ago, 27 year old Moylette was dropped in the second round by Bryant before battling back to a split decision win – but it was a much different story here.

Clark had fought for the WBO title back in 1999, being stopped by Artur Grigorian in the fifth in Germany, but by now is well past his best and Moylette claimed an easy win in the atmospheric Boston venue.

Moylette dropped the 44 year old veteran in the second with a short right uppercut and again with a flurry – before ending the fight with a peach of a straight right.

The win sees Moylette move to 7(3)-0, while Clark falls to 44(18)-17(15).

The Islandeady man will return to Ireland now as he continues his rapid rise through the ranks – with a Mayo homecoming mooted before the end of the year.
