Rare victory for Casey Blair in Belfast
Showing experience that belies his nickname, Casey ‘The Kid’ Blair scored a rare win tonight in Belfast.
Closing the bill at the Short Sports and Social Club, the Bangor light middleweight negated a huge size difference to out-box Iranian Alireza Alimohammadi over six rounds.
37 year old Blair was effectively able to work his way inside to land freely on his admittedly poor Persian opponent.
The Ulster journeyman kept coming throughout, showing his always high fitness levels to dominate as the bout wore on and Alimohammadi tired.
The Asian found himself cut in the fifth as Blair piled the pressure and found a repeated home for countless hooks.
Going to referee Eamonn Magill’s scorecard there was little doubt, and Blair was announced a 60:54 winner.
The home victory sees Blair end an eighteen-fight losing streak and move his record to 4(0)-18(3), while Alimohammadi drops to 0-3(2).
