Rankings Round-Up: Carl Frampton makes a splash

Carl Frampton has jumped into both the featherweight and pound-for-pound rankings of many boxing outlets following his WBA title win against Leo Santa Cruz in New York on Saturday.

As posted yesterday, ‘The Jackal’ is now the featherweight #1 and the pound-for-pound #7 with the Transnational Boxing Ranking Board, the sport’s most credible ratings organisation.

The Ring Magazine have installed Belfast man at #10 in their pound-for-pound list and #2 in their featherweight rankings behind WBC champ Gary Russell Jr (who doesn’t feature on their pound-for-pound list).

Dan Rafael of ESPN has put Frampton straight into top spot in his featherweight division ladder.

Boxing News rate Frampton as the second best featherweight in the division behind Rusell Jr.

Sky Sports have placed Frampton at #3 in their featherweight rankings behind Russell Jr and Lee Selby.

While they are yet to update their ratings, it is assumed that the Tigers Bay puncher will go in as the #1 featherweight with Boxing Monthly following victory over Santa Cruz, the magazine’s current top 126lber.

In the computerised rankings of Boxrec.com, their algorithm puts Frampton as the top featherweight, and #9 in their pound-for-pound list.
