Donegal middleweight Jason Quigley [11(9)-0] fights on the Canelo-Smith undercard next month in Texas, and is near to confirming the name of his opponent for the September 17th clash.

The Ballybofey starlet had a career-best win against the hugely-credible James De La Rosa last time out in May, and it looks like he may find himself up against someone of a similar quality at the AT&T Stadium.

Speaking to ES News, ‘El Animal’ revealed that “there’s an opponent.”

“The name hasn’t been announced yet, it hasn’t been fully confirmed, but there’s one in the works.”

“So I’m just staying concentrated, staying prepared.”

With his opponent having at least five weeks preparation for the bout, Quigley can expect a test, but he explained that “honestly I don’t care who it is because, come September 17th, I’m going to be ready.”

“Whoever’s there is there to stop me from getting to where I’m going and he’s going to be in for one hell of a night.”

Describing his outlook, Quigley outlined how “this is my World title fight, every fight is a World title fight to me.”

“Every fight is getting me one step closer to my goals, to becoming a World champion,

“This fight is my World title fight and I’m ready to perform.”

“I’m putting in the hard work, as always, and not overlooking any opponent.”
