Quigley not impressed with Eubank Jr?
Chris Eubank Jr ‘quashed his beef’ with Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan on Saturday last, but not long after beating an Irish middleweight in somewhat impressive fashion he moved into the sights of another of our 160lbs fighters.
Former amateur stand out and current Golden Boy prospect Jason Quigley wants to fight the son of former World champion Chris Eubank.
The Donegal middle was ringside in London on Saturday and despite seeing Eubank Jr force Cork’s O’Sullivan’s corner pull him out he wasn’t overly impressed with the Brit.
Indeed Quigley believes he could stop the Brighton puncher.
“When I was watching Chris Eubank Jr at the weekend as soon as the fight was over, I thought ‘I want to fight him'” Quigley told Sky Sports.
“Could I stop him? Of course I could, 100 per cent.
“In boxing, one shot can change a whole fight and I believe that I’ve got the power to hurt anybody.
“You put two or three of those hurtful punches together and you can put a man on the canvas very easily. So do I think I can stop him? Yes. Do I think I could beat him? Yes. Would it be a great fight, 100 per cent.”
Considering Saturday’s victory secured Eubank Jr mandatory status for Danny Jacobs WBA middleweight title and the fact Quigley is just nine bouts into his pro career and immediate dust up doesn’t look likely.
However, Quigley claims it is certainly a fight he would like in the future.
“That is down the line a wee bit yet I would think, but definitely in the future that is something that I want.”
