Punisher Hyland to fight former British champion John Simpson on Return of the Mack Card
Patrick Hyland has been handed the chance to put himself back in title contention by securing a clash with former British Champion John Simpson on Matchroom’s Sky broadcast November 15 Dublin card.
Victory over the teak tough and respected Scot could see ‘The Punisher’ secure a shot at Josh Warrington and his European featherweight title.
The Three Arena card, topped by a World title eliminator between Matthew Macklin and the come forward Sebastian Hieland and includes derby grudge matches between Anthony Fitzgerald and Spike O’Sullivan and Ian Tims and Michael Sweeney, has potential fights of the night running right through it and Hyland versus Simpson is no different.
Simpson is never involved in a bad fight and by all accounts is eager to get back on the title trail himself. While Hyland is hungry to return to World level and will be eager to impress in his first home town fight in over four years.
It is also a chance for ‘Pajo’ to get Irish revenge over Simpson, who disposed Martin Lindsay of his British strap in another all action bout in Belfast back in 2010.
Former WBA interim World title challenger Hyland will be viewed as favourite going into the clash, as Simpson comes into the bout on the back of two defeats. Those reverses, however have come above his natural weight and the Scot will be equally motivated by the chance to grab an eye catching win.
