‘Proud’ Carl Frampton collects MBE in Buckingham Palace today
..
WBA and IBF super bantamweight World Champion Carl Frampton became the latest Irish boxer to collect an MBE award today.
The Belfast 29 year old was granted the award in the Queen’s New Years Honours list last December and collected it at a formal presentation and Buckingham Palace on Tuesday morning.
Frampton joins the likes of Dave Boy McAuley, Gerry Storey, Pat McCrory, manager Barry McGuigan and close friend Paddy Barnes as fighters awarded MBE for Contribution to Boxing.
Frampton, who defeated Scott Quigg in a massive clash in February to become Ireland’s first ever unified World champion, was presented the award by Prince William and claimed it was a ‘very proud day’.
