Positive Frampton and Selby talks take place
Talks have already taken place re a massive Carl Frampton and Lee Selby clash according to Jamie Sanigar.
Selby’s manager, who will be working with Cyclone Promotions as they bring Lee Haskins and the Channel 5 camera’s to Wales this Summer, is confident the fight is easy to make and believes it could take place before the year is out.
The IBF super bantamweight and featherweight champions won’t cross paths in their next bouts, indeed Selby faces the relatively unknown Eric Hunter this weekend in London.
While Frampton is eyeing a mega dust up with Leo Santa Cruz, but has a number of Summer options if that clash doesn’t materalise.
Regardless if both win the summer another PPV clash could be on the cards for pre Christmas this time with former Martin Lindsay foe Selby.
Speaking to Boxing Wales Sanigar said
“We’ve talked about it. It’s something that is on a collision course, you know? I think they’ve made no secret of the fact that Carl will look to move to featherweight in the future and Selby is comfortable at featherweight. We don’t plan to move on.
“It’s a fight that will hopefully make sense in the future. I don’t think it’s going to happen immediately but maybe towards the end of the year or early next year. Both sides have a good working relationship, so we won’t start arguing over dressing rooms.”
Asked about the possibility of the match up Cyclone CEO and Irish boxing legend Barry McGuigan was a little more reserved just highlighting it is a possibility down the road.
“We’ve already mentioned that, we’ve spoken to them about that. There’s always a possibility of that down the road and we are developing relationships with them.”
