Phillip Sutcliffe targets European ranked opposition for May 1

PHILLIP Sutcliffe Jr will be praying the BUI can help him get out of boxing limbo and persuade the EBU to place him in the European rankings.

The former Senior Champion and Irish International amateur has blasted his way to 7-0 and his team don’t see the benefit of him padding out his record with more journey man demolitions.

Manager Pat Magee has put in offers to known fighters, names that would help Sutcliffe progress towards titles, but said offers are being continuously rebuffed.

As a result Magee will ask the Boxing Union of Ireland to place Sutcliffe in the EBU rankings so he can fight for a European title. While Sutcliffe hasn’t amassed the record of some of the top 15, Magee argues the Dublin puncher is certainly among the best on the Continent but isn’t being allowed the opportunity to prove it.

The Crumlin BC graduate’s team are trying to secure European ranked opposition for May 1 in a bid to move toward an EBU tilt.
