Patrick Hyland has been unable to shed the requisite 2 pounds 6 ounces for his fight tomorrow night with Josh Warrington in Leeds.

Following just a six week camp after some time off in the aftermath of the Gary Russell loss, the Punisher came in heavy today at the weigh-in at the Leeds Corn Exchange, tipping the scales at 128.375lbs for his featherweight headline fight.

32 year old Hyland, who has been a featherweight his entire career, was given two hours to lose the excess weight, but it was too much.

The Jobstown fighter stated on social media that “I’d like to apologise to Josh Warrington and Matchroom Boxing for not making weight.”

“I’ve been making 126 for 14 years and it just caught up on me.”

The fight at the First Direct Arena will still take place, live on Sky Sports 1, but will no longer be for the WBC International belt and the accompanying World ranking position.
