‘Pat Man’ returns to winning ways with points win in the Devinish
PADDY Gallagher’s girlfriend hates the mention of Prizefighter and it seems she might not have to hear the P word for much longer.
‘The Pat Man’ took step one in putting a mixed display in the most bizarre of the knockout tournaments behind him with victory in the Devinish on Saturday night.
Gallagher returned to winning ways by out pointing the cagey Liam Griffiths over four rounds and looks ready to move on to the next chapter of his fledgling pro career.
The former Commonwealth gold medal winner dominated from start to finish and had his hand raised despite not having to move through the gears.
With a fight lined up next week and with Christmas just around the corner Griffiths was determined not to get stopped and provided the 25 year old with the chance to work on the changes he has been making since teaming up with John Breen.
Gallagher bossed every round trying to cut off the ring so he could go to work on a running opponent. The popular puncher bossed every round and whilst he retained his aggressive style it was a more controlled aggression.
There was method to Gallagher’s work and despite the victory being ‘routine” he showed why people have previously tipped him as one to watch out for.
