Kevin McBrides hopes of re-establishing himself as a contender on the heavyweight scene took a major setback as he was outpointed by journeyman Zack Page on Saturday night.
Page won the bout, at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center by scores of 80-72, 80-72 and 78-74.
McBride, 37, who was engaging in his first contest since an October 2007 stoppage defeat at the hands of Andrew Golota sees his record slip to 34-7-1 (29KO). Page, who was last year defeated by Cork based Cuban Mike Perez improves to 21-29-2 (7KO).
If he is to continue boxing, domestic bouts with Irish Champion Coleman Barrett and Martin Rogan would appear to be the best option for McBride.
