Irish boxers are well known for being great fun, and always being fond of a photo opportunity, and they have certainly lived up to that reputation in the lead up to the start of the Rio Olympics.

Tucked away in the athletes village, the Irish panel have had some spare time to mingle with the other 11,000 athletes, and three boxers in particular have been getting the photos in.

Ballymena’s Steven Donnelly and Belfast duo Paddy Barnes and Mick Conlan have made plenty of famous friend in Brazil and have photographic evidence to bring home with them.

14-time major winning tennis goliath Rafa Nadal was ambushed early on in the week

He would be pictured later looking slightly happier with Donnelly

Another tennis giant was also given the honour of a Belfast selfie

Donnelly caught up with some cyclists

Cavendish also bumped into the Belfast boys

Donnelly got to meet some more tennis giants, David Ferrer and Juan Martin Del Potro

Last night at the Opening Ceremony, Conlan and Donnelly momentarily became a members of Team USA

The gloves were off when Conlan met US golfer Rickie Fowler, taking a chance to throw a shot at the absent Rory McIlroy

And Barnes would twist the knife with a photo of Polish tennis star and McIlroy’s former fiance Caroline Wozniacki
