Paddy Gallagher handed British title eliminator opportunity
Belfast welterweight Paddy Gallagher [10(6)-2(0)] has secured a British title eliminator.
The Pat Man sensationally won the BBBoC Celtic 147lbs belt back in May with a first round knockout of Tony Dixon in Wales on the Lee Haskins v Ivan Morales undercard.
Now 27 year old Gallagher will look to continue moving towards the British title on another Cyclone Promotions undercard next month.
Cyclone have secured Gallagher an eliminator against Zimbabwe-born Reading fighter Tamuka Mucha [14(3)-0] and intend for the bout to take place on the George Groves v Eduard Gutknecht undercard at the Wembley Arena on Friday November 18th.
Unbeaten Mucha is a former holder of the BBBoC Southern Area title and his pro ledger includes points wins over Ryan Toms and Tommy Tear as well as a knockout triumph over Eric Ochieng. Irish fight fans may remember Ochieng as the man who defeated Gallagher in the quarter finals of Prizefighter back in 2014, before withdrawing and allowing the re-entry of the Irishman.
Mucha currently has a six-round bout with Adam Grabiec scheduled for this Saturday. It is unconfirmed whether or not this bout will still take place.
The news comes six years to the day since Gallagher’s Commonwealth Games gold medal win in India against current European super middleweight champion Callum Smith.
