Paddy Barnes secures Scottish fight date

Paddy Barnes [3(0)-0] will return to the ring in October and will fight outside Ireland for the first time as a pro.

The Belfast flyweight will box on the MTK Scotland ‘Capital Collision’ card at the Meadowbank Arena in Edinburgh, live on BoxNation, on Friday October 6th.

In his last outing the Cliftonville man took a massive step up to defeat Romanian Silvio Olteanu and claim the WBO European title – and the #14 spot in the organisation’s rankings.

The 30 year old will look to move further up the ladder, and has stated his desire to fight for another WBO rankings belt.

Barnes will have company on the card too, with fellow Belfast boxer and Commonwealth Games gold medalist Paddy Gallagher defending his BBBoC Celtic welterweight title against Gary Murray.

The card also features card British title fights at heavyweight, between Gary Cornish and Sam Sexton, and at cruiserweight, between Matty Askin and Stephen Simmons, as well as another BBBoC Celtic title fight at super middleweight between Rhys Pagan and Tommy Philbin.

An opponent for ‘The Leprechaun’ will be confirmed shortly.
