Ormond’s World title eliminator with Flanagan back on?
IT seems Ormond’s World title eliminator with Terry Flanagan has been rescheduled and if rumours are to believed the mouth watering clash could take place in a matter of weeks.
The pair were due to trade leather for the right to become mandatory challenger for the WBO lightweight title on December 13. However the Dubliner was pulled out of the clash by a doctor after he came down with a virus.
Frank Warren, who promotes both fighters, then won purse bids to promote Flanagan’s British title defence against Scotty Cardle, raising questions about the eagerly anticipated Irish English dust up.
The WBO European champions coach and manager Pascal Collins was adamant that as World #3 Ormond was still going to fight an eliminator, but no news materalised over the last few weeks.
However, news today suggests Flanagan and Cardle has been cancelled and the rumour mill is churning out news that Flanagan will provide the opposition as Ormond bids to move into World title pole and reports to be published in Ormond’s local paper tomorrow suggest the bout will take place in a matter of weeks.
