Ormond will return in July and looks set to bring big time boxing back to Dublin
Stephen Ormond will make his return to the ring in July and looks set to bring big time boxing back to Dublin.
The WBO European lightweight champion has built up momentum with a break through win over Derry Matthews and an impressive knock out victory over Karim El Ouazghari, a fighter who gave Kevin Mitchell and John Murray good fights.
The Clondalkin puncher, who Bernard Dunne has backed to replace left by his retirement, now hopes to reignite boxing in the capital and is eyeing a Dublin return.
A date, venue or even opponent, but manager and coach Pascal Collins claims a fight is in the making.
“Stephen Ormond will fight in July regardless. We hope that fight will be in Dublin against an opponent that will excite the fans,” he told Irish-boxing.com.
“We are looking to confirm a date and are just waiting to see what date the UFC will confirm for Dublin. Stephen has built momentum over the last year or so and people have seen what a quality operator he is we are looking to build on that further.”
