Opponent named for Matthew Macklin’s Spanish jaunt

Matthew Macklin headlines a black-tie dinner show in Puerto Banús this weekend and MGM Marbella have announced that the former three-time World Title challenger will face Germany’s Chris Hermann in a scheduled eight round contest.

Hermann [19(10)-6(6)-1] is a 28 year old light middleweight and is not expected to pose Macklin [32(21)-6(4)] too many problems on Friday as part of the nine-fight ‘Lights Out at the Plaza’ show in the swanky H10 Andalucía Plaza Hotel.

The keep-busy bout will form part of Macklin’s journey back down to light middleweight, and ‘The Tipperary Tornado’ will be aiming for another confidence-boosting win ahead of his crossroads Matchroom fight with Jason Welborn in October.

Also featuring on the Spanish card are Irish boxers Declan Geraghty, Sean Turner, David Maguire, Ciaran Mullen, and Ciaran O’Brien.
