Old coach John Breen believes Jamie Conlan will become World Champ

By Diarmuid Sherry

John Breen has admitted that he was “disappointed” that the Belfast Super Flyweight, Jamie Conlan, departed from his training stable once Conlan’s Cyclone Promotions contract was completed.

Conlan signed with Matthew Macklin’s MGM company earlier this year.

“You’ll have to ask Jamie why he left. I’ve done nothing wrong. Jamie was lured over to Marbella and the good money where he was promised a weekly wage.

“It wasn’t amicable at the time, but I’ve made up and talked to him since. I wish him well for his career, and I do still believe that he can win a world title.”

Conlan, the WBO Inter-Continental Super Flyweight belt holder next boxes at Dublin’s National Stadium on the 7th November, against an opponent that has yet to be announced.
