O’Kane will have to travel to earn the right to fight GGG v Lemieux winner

THE biggest fight of Eamonn O’Kane’s career will most likely take place out side of Ireland after Gary Shaw won purse bids for the IBF middleweight eliminator on Tuesday.

The IBF ordered a the Derry middleweight and Tureano Johnson to challenge for the right to become mandatory for the their version of the World title, currently held by David Lemieux, who will defend it next against Gennady Golovkin.

O’Kane had hoped the fight would take place in Ireland, but after Gary Shaw won the right to promote the fight America seems the most likely venue for the clash.

Shaw was the only one to place a bid, which was a surprisingly low $12,500, and as a result will promote the clash.
