O’Kane: Prizefighter is all action just like me
By Jonny Stapleton
EAMONN O’Kane believes he is tailor made for Prizefighter as both he and the contest are all action.
The Commonwealth gold medallist may have an extensive amateur background, but he loves to brawl as much as he likes to box and as a result thinks he is tailor made for the tournament which looks set to come to Belfast on May 5.
The Dungiven fighter, who fights Wayne Reed on March 17 on the under card of Kell Brook and Mattew Hattons eagerly anticipate clash, is one of the favourites amongst the names mentioned. The middleweight, whose amateur cv reads like a whose who of boxing, is confident he can do well and believes he can use the contest to progress he career.
“I would love to be in Prizefighter. I have heard and read all about the Irish Prizefighter. If it happens it would be great. It would suit me down the ground. It is fast furious and all action. Fighters can’t run they have to engage. That would suit me and to be honest I would really enjoy it. Get three wins in one night and you can put yourself in line for a title shot. Everyone one will know what they get with me. I will come with plenty of punches. Lets see who can handle it.”
