O’Kane digs deep to beat Taylor and move closer to World title shot

EAMONN O’Kane had to dig deep to keep his World title dream alive on Saturday.

‘King Kane’ became the first puncher to beat Lewis Taylor and moved into the IBF top three after 12 hard rounds in the Lavey Centre.

O’Kane claimed a 114-114, 116-112, 115-113 majority division.

Taylor didn’t read the script and tried his best to ruin O’Kane’s homecoming, but the Derry middleweight did enough in a fight were both enjoyed success to claim an important win.

The result moves him into the top three of the IBF rankings – so he is within touching distance of a world title opportunity.
Belfast’s James Fryers extended his unbeaten record on the card with victory over Zoltan Horvath, while Alan Donnellan out pointed Jozsef Racz. There were also wins for Irish title hopeful Garven Kelly aswell as the returning John O’Donnell.
