O’Hara hopeful of title chance
28 August 2009 – By Cormac Campbell
Belfast super-featherweight Kevin OHara believes that he is again just one fight away from a major championship shot.
The 27-year-old former amateur star dropped a points decision to Commonwealth champion Ricky Burns in June, but believes a good performance on October 9 at the Odyssey could open up other avenues.
The last Martin Rogan show (in May) I didnt even have Ricky Burns in my sights, he told irish-boxing.com.
But the next day I got the phone call for the Commonwealth title shot. If I had performed badly in the Ricky Burns fight I know I wouldnt be on the Martin Rogan show. If I had of lost badly or got knocked out, it wouldnt have happened. He (Promoter Frank Warren) doesnt like time wasters, even if they can sell a few tickets. He wants fellas who will come to fight and is going to win fights and titles and I think I can do that.
Weve been promised different things so I just have to keep my head above water. I just have to get this 8 rounder over me first and then we will take it from there.
