Ahead of Ireland’s first medal fight of the Rio Games, we take a look at the prices on offer.

Ballymena welterweight Steven Donnelly looks to continue his amazing dream in Brazil at 4:15pm Irish time today when he takes on Moroccan World champion Mohammed Rabii in the quarter finals – with a bronze medal on the line.

It is monumental ask for the Irishman, but he has spoken of his confident, nothing-to-lose attitude.

Indeed Rabii did not look all too impressive in his previous fight and has yet recaptured his form from 2015. A sharp Donnelly could cause him problems.

Unsurprisingly, the African is odds on favourite with the bookmakers and comes in anywhere between 1/3 and a Boylesports best price of 2/5.

Donnelly on the other hand can be had at a wide 9/4 with SkyBet.

For anyone wanting to take a punt on Donnelly going all the way, he is now 16/1 for gold with Lads, William Hill, and bet365, in from a pre-tournament price of 33/1.

In addition to Donnelly there is another Irishman in action today in the form of Belfast flyweight Brendan Irvine who is in Round of 32 action at 3:15pm Irish time. The Wee Rooster takes on Uzbek Shakhobidin Zoirov and is a favoured for the win with Paddy Power the longest odds available at 5/6. Zoirov can be had at 11/8 with Boyles, bet365, and SkyBet.
