Ochigava pulls out Taylor gets last 16 walkover

KATIE TAYLOR has received a walkover into the semi-finals of the AIBA World Women’s Elite Championships in Jeju, South Korea.

The Bray woman was due to meet Sofya Ochigava in the last-eight today, but the Russian southpaw did not weigh-in between 7am and 8am local time.

It is understood that the former World champion picked up an injury in her last-16 bout yesterday

Irish team manager Anna Moore confirmed that Taylor had received a walkover into the last-four.

The semi-finals and finals will be held on Sunday and Monday. Saturday is a rest day at the tournament. Taylor, who is targeting a 5th successive gold in Jeju, is now guaranteed at least bronze.
