Noely Murphy fight on Thursday OFF

There has been some bad news for Macroom’s Noely Murphy [6(2)-0] who has had his fight on Thursday night in Conneticut cancelled.

The Cork light welter was due to face Afrim Mema at the Foxwoods Resort and Casino, but the bout has been shelved following an injury sustained by the Detroit-based Albanian.

Mema was involved in an accident at the weekend and a replacement opponent was unable to be found at such short notice.

The cancellation is the second of 2016 for Murphy, who also saw a fight in February called off due to his opponent coming in overweight.

While frustrating for the 21 year old, Murphy plans to be back in the gym immediately in preparation for his next contest.
