Niall Kennedy happy with solid Monster Brawl opponent
Niall Kennedy [5(3)-0] will continue his gradual climb through the ranks on October 15th.
The Wexford heavyweight boxes on the Murphy’s Boxing Monster Brawl at the Memorial Hall in Melrose, Massachusetts, and will face what looks to be a career-best opponent.
Boom Boom Baz is slated to face Las Vegas fighter Henry Namauu [10(5)-8(4)] over six rounds on the Hallowe’en-themed show.
Namauu comes into the bout after nearly three years of inactivity, but will arrive in shape and fighting to win. Formerly a cruiserweight, the come-forward opposition should provide Kennedy with more of a battle of skills and and an opportunity to be the physically bigger man in the ring, something which he has been yearning for recently.
While his record is mixed, 32 year old Namauu has been matched tough throughout his career and claimed numerous wins over fighters with winning records.
The Gorey big man is happy with the opponent and told Eamon Carr of the Evening Herald that “he’s fit and he likes to come forward – I’m hoping he doesn’t like the step up from cruiserweight.”
The clash will be Kennedy’s third successive Stateside scrap before he returns to an Irish ring on November 5th at the National Stadium on the Red Corner ‘Inception’ show.
