Niall Kennedy registered professional win number six in America at the weekend.

Featuring prominently on the Murphys Boxing ‘Monster Brawl’ card, Boom Boom Baz outpointed Henry Namauu over six rounds in Melrose, Massachusetts.

Fighting the toughest, most aggressive, opponent of his career so far, the Wexford heavyweight scored a comfortable points win, taking every round on all three scorecards.

Kennedy spoke to Irish-Boxing.com following the victory and described how “I was happy with my performance I had loads of new stuff to deal with and felt I gave him a boxing lesson.”

“It was a different fight [to his previous contests] because he had very good experience and it was being classed as a 60:40 fight by all the Americans at the show, so I showed probably a bit too much caution but I just said I’d do it in cruise control and box him as he had good chin.”

Next up for the Gorey giant is a return to an Irish ring on the November 5th Red Corner show at the National Stadium. Now an American regular, Kennedy would also like a regional title on his next visit, and revealed how “I would love the New England title and believe I am ready for longer rounds, but I will do as Packie [Collins, coach] and Ken [Casey, Murphys Boxing chief] direct.”

“My main target is to get fitter, faster, and stronger before each fight. All roads lead to November 5th now so I’m genuinely excited to hopefully get my seventh win in my first year and a half of pro boxing.
