Next fight for Irish Champion Eric Donovan CONFIRMED
Kildare featherweight Eric Donovan [9(5)-0] will return to the ring next month.
‘Lilywhite Lightning’ enjoyed a breakthrough night at the end of March when he headlined a TG4 show at the National Stadium, winning the Irish title in the process, and he will now look to make further inroads with his first overseas pro fight.
Irish-Boxing.com can confirm that Donovan will fight for a tenth time as a pro on Saturday June 22nd at the famous York Hall in London.
The Boxing Ireland southpaw will feature on a Hellraiser show at the historic Bethnal Green venue.
An opponent for Donovan on the show – which is being dubbed ‘The Irish Invasion’ and will feature a number of other fighters from these shores – will be confirmed shortly.
The 33-year-old is looking to make big strides in 2019 having overcome a nightmare 2018 which was beset by injuries.
This resurgence began with a knockout win over Stephen McAfee to win the Irish 126lbs title live on terrestrial television – and was followed by a huge boost in Donovan’s profile with numerous well-received mainstream media appearances.
Further TG4 fights for Donovan – as well as more titles such as the BBBoC Celtic and EBU European Union belts – look to be in the pipeline but, before this, the Athy star will continue building and have a UK introduction.
The bill in six-and-a-half weeks’ time will also see appearances for Assassin Promotions quartet Owen Duffy, Victor Rabei, Craig McCarthy, and Cillian Reardon – with more Irish boxers set to be announced in the coming days and weeks.
