The IABA have confirmed a date for the next National Elite Championships.

The governing body earmarked November for the tournament earlier this year but today revealed that Irish boxing’s blue ribbon competition will be pushed back to early next year.

The National Elite Championships will now play in January of 2023, starting on January 6 with Finals night taking place on January 14.

The last installment of the national competition took place in September of 2021, meaning there will be no National Elites in 2022.

However, there will be two in 2023 with a second National Elites scheduled for October 2023.

With the changes in the Olympic qualifying structure the next Elites should be huge and with so much at stake possibly the most enthralling in recent years.

The new date came to light when the Officer Board of the Central Council issued the calendar of boxing for the 12 months from October 2022.

Dates for some domestic qualifying competitions may be subject to change, in the event of an amendment to the EUBC calendar.

October: National Senior Championships, 7^th & 8^th, 14^th & 15^th, 21^st & 22^nd, 28^th & 29th

October: National Novice Championships, 7^th & 8^th, 14^th & 15^th, 21^st & 22^nd, 28^th & 29^th

November: IBA World Youth Championships, 12^th-27^th

2023

January: National Elite Championships: 6^th-14^th

January: National U22 Championships: 20^th-22^nd & 27^th-29^th.

January: National U18 Championships: 20^th-22^nd & 27^th-29^th

February: IABA Awards Night, dates TBC

March: National Boy/Girl 4, Junior 1 & 2 Championships: 3^rd-5^th, 10^th & 11^th, 17^th & 18^th, 24^th & 25th

March: EUBC U22 Championship, dates TBC

April: National Boy/Girl 1,2 & 3: 7^th-15^th

April: EUBC Youth Championships, dates TBC

April/May: National Senior Cadets Boy/Girl 4 Junior 1: April 28^th & 29^th, May 5^th & 6^th, 12^th & 13^th, 19^th & 20^th

June: National Junior Cadets Boy/Girl 2&3: 9^th-11^th, 16^th-18^th, 23^rd & 24th
