New Belfast fight card announced

Another new Irish fight card has been announced as the exceedingly busy start to boxing on this island in 2018 continues.

April promises to be a busy month for Belfast boxing with Carl Frampton’s massive fight against Nonito Donaire and now another card in the Titanic City has been pencilled into the scheduled.

Saturday April 14th at the Europa Hotel will play host to the second MHD Promotions show of the year.

Tonight’s announcement comes hot on the heels of ‘Assassin’s Creed’ – topped by James Tennyson – at the same venue on Saturday just gone.

This time round the bill will be headlined by Lagmore lightweight Paul Hyland Jr [17(6)-0] who will be making his first appearance of the year.

The 27-year-old missed out as the weekend as he continues his recovery from a broken jaw suffered against Stephen Ormond on the big Matchroom bill in the city back in October.

2017 was a breakout year for Hyland who also scored wins over English opposition Peter Cope and Adam Dingsdale – the second of which was a stunning first-round knockout at the SSE Odyssey Arena in June.

A headline opponent for Hyland will be announced shortly.

No undercard fighters have been confirmed, however it is assumed the bill will comprise largely of boxers from the MHD management stable.

The card is the seventh Irish show of the year after ‘Assassin’s Creed’ at the weekend, ‘Danger at The Devenish 3’ this weekend, the inaugural Ring Kings bill in Waterford on February 17th, Ireland’s Last Man Standing on March 3rd, Celtic Clash 5 on March 24th, and the Frampton-Donaire bill on April 21st.
