Nevin to debut against Puerto Rican opposition on St Patrick’s Day

JOHN Joe Nevin will make his pro debut in Boston on St Patricks Day against Puerto Rican opposition.

News the Olympian was fighting in the House of Blues on a card that includes Jamie Kavanagh was released last month, but Greenbloods, Nevin’s management team, had hoped the Mullingar fighter would be producing his trade mark shuffle in Ireland or the UK pre March 17.

It now seems, however that Boston will play host to the London 2012 star’s first paid bout and  28 year old Puerto Rican Alberto Candelaria will provide the opposition on the ‘Night of Fights’ Fox Sports broadcast card.

Nevin’s opponent, Candelaria, has a record of three wins (including two knockouts) and one defeat and the bout is scheduled for four rounds.
