Nevin takes the first steps on the road back to the ring
JOHN Joe Nevin is back in the gym and training less than six weeks after suffering a career threatening double leg break.
The Olympic silver medal winner and decorated amateur remains limited to what he can do, but has taken the first steps on the road to recovery.
Nevin’s management team remained positive directly after Nevin had the injury inflicted on him in an altercation and predicted a the ‘Mullingar Shuffler’ would fight for the second time as a pro before the year is out.
And his coach Brain McKeown revealed the talented prospect is on the mend and more determined than ever to succeed.
Speaking on social media the Cavan BC coach said,
“Winners never quit, less than 6 weeks after horrific attack John Joe is back in the gym and working.
“Mobility is still a bit of a problem but he is undergoing rehab and doing strength, conditioning and flexibility work now. The heart is the main thing and it is still as big as ever.”
