National Under-22 Championships – ENTRY LIST

Next Friday (January 13th) sees the start of the new National Under-22 Championships.

The tournament is part of a big push by the IABA to develop a clearer pathway for boxers from underage the Senior Elite level, rather than putting talented fighters into the Senior Elite Championships before they are ‘ready’ per say.

For men there is the added benefit and incentive of the European Under-22 Championships which take place in Romania in March, and the winners of this month’s championships are likely to be chosen for the Irish squad.

The IABA have released the entry list for the championships, as it stands, along with the entry list for the National Novices which will run concurrently with the Under-22s.

There are some big names set to take part, however many more are yet to confirm that they will, or wont, take part (perhaps keeping their cards close to their chests) and it is expected that the entry list will be fleshed out considerably before the closing date for entries next Wednesday.
